Every production unit needs expert chemical engineers who can control the quality tabs of their industry. Apart from these, many chemical engineers, by will, choose to go and work towards the development of chemical sciences, which generally involves creation of new compounds. This subject is a very vast one, and accommodates subjects like material designing and nanotechnology.
