How to become an IAS/IPS officer?


You may have heard about IAS/IPS exams or officers a lot of times. If you have not then you should first know the full form of IAS and IPS. IAS refers to Indian Administrative Services and IPS refers to Indian Police Services. The procedure for becoming an IAS and IPS officer is same. IAS and IPS are very good career options for anyone who wants to be a part of Indian government and help the country by getting in to the system. IAS/IPS is a very prestigious rank. It is not really easy to become an IAS/IPS. Here are a few steps one needs to take for becoming an IAS/IPS.
IAS IPS OfficerFirst, in order to become an IAS/IPS officer, an individual is required to have a degree from an Indian University or a degree of same qualification. Students who are in the final year of their degree course can also appear in the preliminary examination.
Second, you need to prepare yourself for appearing in the exams of Indian Civil Services. The exam for IAS/IPS is conducted in two steps. First step is the “preliminary exam”; which takes place in May/June and the second step is the main exam which takes place in October/November every year. It is not easy to beat IAS/IPS exams. A large number of people appear for Indian Civil Services exams every year. However, only a few get selected. It takes dedication and patience for clearing this exam and becoming an IAS/IPS officer.
Third, you need to fulfill all the requirements for being an IAS/IPS officer. There are various requirements like minimum age and maximum age; for becoming an IAS/IPS officer. 21 is the minimum and 30 is the maximum age for appearing in the exam of IAS/IPS. There is relaxation for the upper age limit for applicants belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories.
Fourth, after an individual clears both preliminary and the main exam for IAS/IPS then he is called for an interview. This interview is quite tough and it tests the confidence, approach and understanding of an individual. After clearing this interview, a person becomes an IAS/IPS officer.
