To take up a career as a Chartered Financial Analyst you must have a basic degree in any discipline or have four years of qualified professional experience or two years of experience and a degree totaling to four years.
Even if you are in the final year of the degree course you can register with the Chartered Financial Accountants Institute. You will be asked to take a test in professional conduct. The examination of the institute covers a vast area of the financial spectrum. It covers Investment, Derivatives, Portfolio Management, Financial Analysis, Economics and Corporate Finance.
As a CFA you will be in the financial department of any corporation at the top level in the entry itself. The financial policies of the company, any mergers and acquisitions by the company will be based on the report you submit to the board of the company. You will be an asset to the mutual fund companies to look after the investments after studying the market and the derivatives. You should be able to analyze and forecast the movement of stocks and shares depending on the changes in the economy. You will be taking the decision on behalf of the company in forwards markets and futures market. In a bank you will be occupying one of the best positions in treasury department. Your recommendations will play an important role in preparing the balance sheets and analyzing the balance sheets if the company is going for any takeover ideas. You will be advising the company regarding the policy for the dividend declaration and maintaining the reserves.
